On December 23rd, we had Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa S. We went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel and then came home for some great food, a little Wii, and presents. I couldn't believe how excited the boys got about getting clothes!
In this picture you can't really see it, but Peter was literally giddy with excitement as he grabbed all those clothes and hugged them tightly while bringing them to show us. We were all laughing so hard! Why is it you never have the video camera handy when you most need it?
They did get more than clothes though. The clear winner was actually a Toy Story money bank. The boys carry it around everywhere looking for money to put in it. After getting the kids to bed it was time for the real fun to start. We play the "Poor Man's" Game every year with my parents. It's one of those games where you roll the dice and every time you get doubles you get to take a present. When we play, nothing is fair. All presents are fair game no matter how often they've been stolen. And when you steal a present, it's just gone. You don't have to give a trade and the "victim" doesn't get to automatically pick another gift. Its a brutal game where one person can have everything while the rest are left with nothing and we absolutely love playing it every year. Mike jokes about it being the reason he married me.
The first year we played, it really was a poor man's game, including such great gifts as pringles and cans of pop. Over the years it's gotten a little more expensive. Mom picks up presents throughout the year and saves them all for the big day. This year, Mike bought the ipod I've been wanting, and put it in the game instead of giving it to me. Let's just say that he's lucky I won it or he might have died that night.
We had a blast!
