Mike's Reunion

Last weekend, we attended Mike's 11 year reunion. I guess they didn't get a hold of enough people in time for the 10th, so they pushed it back a year. I'll admit I was pretty nervous about going, but we had a lot of fun. Charlie LOVED the picnic and playing with all the other kids. I really enjoyed meeting some of the people that Mike knew back then (although most of them were girls). I even ran into a couple of people that I knew- including an old roommate. Sadly we didn't take any pictures of all those other people. But my mom did take some of Mike and I on our way to the semi formal dinner, and since I so rarely post pictures of us, I'm sharing.

Some thoughts about Peter

I love this kid too with all my heart. For the most part, he is just so happy. He runs around the house with a huge grin, breathing really hard because he thinks he is so funny. He laughs at himself constantly, which is good because he's also very clumsy and falls down a lot. Peter has a very demanding side to him. When he sets his mind to something, he screams until he gets it. And it's not an "I'm sad and crying" scream. It's a "GIVE IT TO ME NOW" scream. Like in church on Sunday, we were wandering the halls and he saw a boy with a sucker. He threw such a fit that the boy finally found another one to give to him. And then Peter sat quietly with that sucker for the next half an hour.

He copies absolutely everything that Charlie does. From running circles around the house to taking off giggling when we want to change his clothes to bringing us a ball and holding a bat. (Although when we actually throw the ball to him he drops the bat to go get it . . .)

He's also affectionate. He gives huge hugs when we take him out of his crib, patting me on the back with his head on my shoulder. He love to give huge open mouth kisses, slobbering all over my face. He attacks Charlie with ferocious hugs of excitement. He will walk up to anyone sitting on the ground and back onto their laps, whether he knows them or not.

Peter is starting to really love books. His current favorite is Baby Einstein: Windows to Color although he also really likes Peek-a-Boo Baby by Karen Katz.

He LOVES to be outside playing in the sandbox. He loves to climb up on the fireplace and just perch there. He loves running around naked. If we forget to put a onesie on him when we put him down for a nap, he pulls his pants and diaper off and falls asleep with his little bum in the air. He's a curious kid with absolutely no fear who loves to watch and touch and experience everything.

He makes me laugh every single day. And he's getting so big. I can't believe he's not my baby anymore . .

Some thoughts about Charlie

This kid makes me happy every single day. He's becoming such a little person. (Especially now that we can understand most of what he says.) He is curious about everything and has absolutely no fear. He loves other kids and talks about his friends in nursery often. If you remember last summer I talked about the kids on the other side of the fence? Charlie still likes to climb up there and talk to them. He watches them ride their bikes on the sidewalk out front and when we finally got him a tricycle, he rode it back and forth in front of their house proudly, checking to see if they were watching him.

Some of his favorite phrases are, "What you talking about mom?" "I have to call . . ." (fill in the person he's thinking of), "Won't that be fun?" "But Mom! I'm tired!" (his excuse for anything he doesn't want to do, including taking naps) "Hey mom! In nursery today, I pushed and pinched the kids." "I just want cereal and toast and pancakes and sausage." "I'm McQueen and Mom you're Sally and Peter's a tractor and Daddy's Frank." "Help me do a puzzle . . ."

We do puzzles often, and he jabbers at me the whole time. Sometimes I understand it and sometimes he gets going way too fast and I don't understand a word of it. His favorite books are the ones where he gets to help with counting or naming letters or finding shapes. I can't believe how smart he's getting.

He loves visiting any of his grandparents. Here he is picking strawberries at my mom's house.

In the morning while I shower and get ready, I let him play Wii. It keeps him out of trouble and is the only way I get to shower every day. One day he got into the Mii channel and created these new characters. He now has to use them for everything he does. His favorite is of course the ugliest one- with the yellow shirt.

I just love his eyes. They aren't blue like his dad's, but they are this fun steely gray with green flecks. And they get so big and beautiful when he wants something that it's impossible to say no to him, especially when he adds in the little nose sniffle.

He gets so proud of himself at everything that he does. And he's starting to get to the point where he doesn't mind posing for the camera, as long as I let him see the picture right after I take it.

This little boy is truly one of a kind and I love him dearly.

man I love this kid

50 points to the person who can name his favorite movie of the moment. This is his favorite line from it.

Lamar Update . . .

He's now on itunes! Go search for Lamar Holley: Confessions of a College Student. Listen to Pretend that She's Ugly which is one of my favorites, although Forgotten Friends is another one I love. I think I'll go download them now.

New stuff about my family coming soon . . . things have just been a little crazy. Mike's been working from about 6 in the morning to 9 at night and that makes my days seem so hectic, even though I feel like I'm getting nothing done.

Lamar's New Album!!!

My favorite cousin's husband has a new album out! And it's so fun! Remember I told you about his first album, Classroom Pop? This album, Confessions of a College Student, is different. The first one was an educational album for kids. This one is pure entertainment and will bring back memories of when you were young, in school and dating. It's a clean, happy CD to listen to with the whole family. These are some of the songs I remember hearing when I first met him, back when he and Linsey were dating. Go to his website and listen to it right now! www.lamarholley.com or http://cdbaby.com/cd/lamarholleymusic2

This guy is amazing. He can make up songs at any moment. In fact, with this whole family, you never know when they are going to break out in song. They are so much fun to be around! When you buy his album, you support a family. Oh and by the way, if you are checking out the album and come across the song, Flower, he wrote that for his wife. How cute is that . . .

ny niece and nephew

Things have been pretty lazy around here. Not a lot to blog about. But with the coming of Spring, I find my self taking a million photos. Here's one I wanted to share of Jax and Elsa. For those of you who know Jimmy, these are his sweet children.

More pictures of their visit will be coming later. I'm using them to practice my photo editing skills.
