Mike really went all out to make this birthday a special one. Before he left in the morning, he handed me an envelope. Inside was a clue sending me to Starbucks at 10. My mom showed up just before I left to watch the kids and I headed out the door. Waiting at Starbucks were three things: Patti, a gift card and another clue. Patti and I got some hot cocoa and headed to Pier 1 where there was another clue and gift card waiting. After some shopping, Patti went home to her kids, and I headed to Cafe Rio, the next stop on this day out. My mom met me there, having left the kids with Ron, and we had lunch before going across the street to my final stop- the mall where another gift card was waiting so that I could get some new clothes. I just can't believe that Mike when to all that trouble to make up the clues, buy the gift cards, and leave them all at the various places around town. I have no idea when he did it, but it was a wonderful day.
Then when he got home from work, he brought the stuff for a BBQ and an ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins. He doesn't always think to do things for my birthday, but when he does he goes all out. What a fantastic and thoughtful husband I have!

Birthday season is officially over for 2009. Next year Mike and I are both turning 30, so we're going to throw a big birthday party somewhere in between our two birthdays . . . who wants to come?
