A couple of days ago I was playing with Charlie and realized that I was able to carry on a conversation with him. When did this start?!? How did I miss it?!? It came on so gradually that I will never know, but I'm so happy to watch my little boy turning into a real little person. That conversation was something about fruit snacks and granola bars and it went on for a good 5ish minutes. I wish I could remember it. We also had the following shorter conversation just before sacrament meeting as he was jumping on his seat:
Me: Charlie, where do you get all your energy?
He looks at the ceiling thoughtfully with his hands on his hips . . .
Me: Where does it all come from?
Charlie: Church.
Me: You get your energy from church?
Charlie: Yeah.
And then there was the other night when I asked him what song he wanted me to sing to him before going to bed. He said, "Stars in pocket!" (He meant Catch a Falling Star) He usually asks for Old Macdonald (Pig!) or Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam (Jesus!). For him to ask for a quiet song . . . one that my mom sang to me and that her mom taught to her . . . it made me cry. And then he tried to sing it with me.
He's such a turkey sometimes (today I was cleaning poop out of the sandbox) but he's also a sweet kid and he has the ability to melt my heart when he wants to.

Hey - Brady and I were pondering on what trouble Jesse gets into and I said that you are probably the only person that would understand - as your Charlie gets into everything, too. So, we thought that Charlie vs. Jesse blog might be very entertaining!!! hee hee hee!
That would be absolutely hilarious!
