"Don't you love New York in the Fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies."
-You've Got Mail
Okay, I'm no where near New York, and it definitely doesn't feel like Fall yet, but I watched all the neighborhood kids head back to school today and it put me in the mood to go back too. I miss teaching. Not that I don't LOVE being a stay at home mom, but sometimes I miss the whole school environment- the kids, the freshly sharpened pencils, the shelves of books, the teacher's lounge (with cheap pop and goodies from the parents), and making plans for new lessons. Anyway, I decided that that last thing is something I can still do. There is no reason not to spend some time planning and carrying out "lessons" for my two year old. So I got this idea from a blog that I lurk on (yes, I'm a big fat blurker), Make & Takes and she got it from this blog. Both of these blogs are fun, but the idea I'm talking about is a "Letter of the Day." I'm actually going to make it more of a "Letter of the Week" so that I can do more with it. We're starting this week with the letter "C" for Charlie of course. So far, we're having fun with it. I have at least three activities planned for each day this week. We'll be playing games, creating artwork, enjoying nature, baking, listening to music, reading books and maybe even doing a little home decorating. I can't wait to see how this all goes, and I'm glad it's totally satisfying my "teacher cravings."

What a great idea, Kirsten! I need to do more school-type stuff with Sadie. I'm sure Charlie will LOVE it!
RaNae showed me the picture of Charlie in the sandbox! Can I just say gross! and hilarious! I have such great things to look forward to with my son! ;o)
Yes - I love the autumn and Back to School stuff. And I love the letter of the day idea - sounds like a good thing for my little guy! But, I don't miss teaching yet, even though I think I want to go back to it someday.
