Heroes

We went with a hero theme this year. Not necessarily super heroes, just heroes.

Grandma S came up to help us out.

Charlie admitted that the only reason he picked this costume was so that I'd make him a keyblade. He's been Sora before . . . but this time he wanted the Halloween Town Sora costume. I worked so hard on that keyblade, only to have it fall apart about 5 minutes into the evening. I'll have to make a stronger one and give it to him for Christmas.

It took Andrew all of 3 seconds to figure out what this holiday is all about. He kept popping lollipops in his mouth, sometimes before the other one was even gone. He got tired trick or treating, but parked himself in his stroller with a pile of candy on the tray. We had to sneak it into his bucket without him seeing. Hey, where did his other wristband go?

Peter lives and breaths Batman at the moment, but I didn't want to make the new all black batman costume, I was going for a more classic look. He was okay with it as long as it had lots of blue... and as long as I made the "things for my arms with the pointies on them." I don't think he'll take the costume off for the next week.

After the ward trunk-or-treat we came home, put coats on under the costumes, and went trick-or-treating in the rain. Do you remember how much I love trick-or-treating our neighborhood? How it's always full of kids running all over the place? How the neighbors come out and talk? How it feels like a happy Halloween movie? Well no one was out this year. It was so sad! And people kept giving us handfuls of candy because where they usually run out, this year they had only given a few pieces away. I really hope it was just the rain that kept people away, because if our fun Halloween neighborhood is "dying" then it's time to move.

We didn't let us keep us down though. We had a blast! And of course now we have enough candy to last us at least through Christmas . . . unless Squish gets to it first.

Happy Halloween to you all!
