This time of year

Usually the week before Halloween is a crazy one, as I'm running around like a crazy person, stressing about getting the costumes done. But this year (drumroll please) ....... I finished them a week early!! Of course we had to get them done by the school carnival so I guess it wasn't really early, but I would have settled for half costumes by then, safety pinned together. I didn't have to settle though. I actually got them done!  So this week has been way less intense than past Halloween weeks have been. I've been reading books with my kids, actually getting dishes done, making fun halloween recipes... We had pumpkin waffles with buttermilk syrup yesterday. Heavenly. And the house smelled wonderful! Unlike the boy smell that so often permeates the whole place. I guess I'm rambling about nothing, which is easy to do when it's so late at night and the two-year-old refuses to go to sleep.
