I signed him up for kindergarten this morning. I had to decide whether to send him in the morning or afternoon and whether I'm going to drive him or let him ride the bus. Seriously, what happened?
2. Real emails. Blogs make me a little sad. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE reading them. I love seeing the pictures of your beautiful families and all the fun things you're doing. I love that blogs have made it so easy to keep in touch. But at the same time, I kinda miss the email. You know, the personal ones . . . the ones where you don't really have to worry about what you write because only the person you send it to is going to read it. The ones where you don't have to pretend to "fit in" to any online world. The ones where you just attach a few pictures for the heck of it. I miss getting them too. It's weird how I can run into someone I haven't seen in a long time and know everything that's been going on with them without having had a personal conversation with them in years. I know about their potty training woes and about their family vacation to Arizona. I know about their daughter's first day of school and their son's karate lessons. All without really feeling close to them. Maybe I'm not making any sense, but it dawned on me the other day that although blogs bring us all together, they take out the closeness.
3. Vacations.
It's been too long since I went on one. And I know it hasn't really been that long, but I'm addicted . . . and that makes it seem so much longer. I wish I was one of those people who could take a "stay-cation" and have it actually satisfy the craving.
4. Happy TV shows. Have you noticed "they" tend to cancel the positive uplifting shows? If you have any suggestions of some that are still on, please tell me. I've lost interest in most of the shows I watch because they are just getting so depressing. Even Glee, which used to make me happy, is starting to drive me crazy. Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother are the only ones that can keep my attention and I'm so glad they have no plans to cancel either anytime soon.
5. The sun
But it's coming back. I can tell.

I totally agree with your 5 things!! I could relate to all of them! Love you and miss you tons!
Amen to #2. Or how about the time and effort it takes/took to write an actual letter? That's another thing that I think our generation is going to be dated by.
I see it with my high school students now. Remember when were that age (see?) and how you'd go on cool trips, meet new people, and then you'd miss them and so you'd write them a letter?
Now they just add each other on Facebook and it's done.
I remember the absolute thrill (and disappointment) of checking the PO Box every day. The excitement of opening an envelope, holding the letter in your hands, and reading it over and over again.
Ok. I'm done sounding like a bitter adult now.
